****** PLAY NOTES for Mystic Force ****** 11/21/2004 ************************ Two-word parsing, and most shortcuts aren't available. I.e. LOOK TREE might work, but LOOK AT TREE or X TREE will not. Ditto for TALK MAN, GET ITEM, etc. The game map is a grid of 8 x 11 rooms. Starting room is #12 (fourth room of second row). The hole to the underworld is at #17. It leads down to #46 The hole into the darkworld is at #61. It leads up to #69. Sudden death abounds, but the game auto-saves under your name when you exit. So, just re-start the game and you won't start over. UNDO doesn't work, but SAVE does. However, you only get one save per name (no limit on names). The "USE" verb works in several places. Elsewhere, it just insults you. You can only carry four items at once. So, remember where you drop stuff. Chop the big tree to get the sword. Kill the spiders. You will also need the shield to fight the dragon. Get the paint from the gnome. Paint the wall. Paint the invisible troll, then fight him. Push the rocks in the room past the troll. Get blue water in the empty paint bucket. This is used later, for making a red pool purple. One of the pools contains an amulet. Use it to get past the colorful barrier. Look at the stump to get the emerald. Look at the wall (room #25 -- west) to find a flask. Give the flask to the elf, to get the ring. You can now get the lever found in the field. Use the lever at the box in the cave, the pull it. Give the gold to the red-winged guardian. A key is in the armor (look armor). Push the panel (room #64) to get a cage. Get the colorful creature (if you have the cage). Drop it in the colorful "other world". Drop the unicorn's horn in the cave (room #36). The blue-winged guardian will accept the emerald. The nomadic gnome will accept the ruby. You can push the large boulder. Hit the glass wall to break an opening to the west. According to the .DAT files, the ghost is west of the village, but you can't go west of the village without the lantern. The ghost drops the lantern when you give him the black box... so... what am I missing? You can get bread from the white knight, by (I think) giving him the lance. The lance is found in the leaves west of the village, but again, it doesn't seem possible to get there. The witches want poison (according to the .DAT files). I think you can get a wand from the Cavalier, to give to the wizard, but I don't remember exactly. The green-winged guardian will accept a diamond, which you get from the old man by giving him the bread. However, that's also west of the village. Ways to die are numerous. Attacking most of the NPCs will do it. Trying to get the sparkling rocks in the cave wall will do it. You'll die if you talk to the reaper, get the spiders, take the gnome's ladder or candles, push the elf, or drink water from the pool north of the village.
